WhatsApp is having over 900 million users. Not all but many of the WhatsApp users faces notifications issues. Some of them don’t receive notifications when screen is off, some don’t get at all and some get delayed notifications in WhatsApp. You might have a good internet connection but still you are not getting WhatsApp notification messages. There could be many reasons behind the issues, so in this article I have listed out what could be the reasons and solutions for WhatsApp notifications not working and getting delay in notifications.
WhatsApp Notifications not working in Android
If you are an Android user and you are not getting the notifications in your Android device, below mentioned could be the possible reasons.
- Notification Settings: Check the WhatsApp notification settings, it might be off. Navigate to Settings->Apps->WhatsApp and check the option if it is checked or not.
- Ultra power saving mode: If you have this option in your device, make sure it is off as it disables the internet network when the device is in sleep mode and because of the same reason you might not get notifications.
- Not getting notifications when the screen is off or in lock screen: You might have installed battery saving app on your Android device, some of the battery saving apps restrict the notifications when you turn off the screen or when the screen is locked. Try uninstalling the app and check the WhatsApp notification messages.
- Check between WiFi & Mobile network: Check whether you are getting notifications on WiFi or not. It might be the issue with your mobile network. Some of the users report that they get notifications when they are connected to the WiFi.

Delay in receiving WhatsApp Notification messages
It might happen that even after having good internet connection your WhatsApp notifications are delayed. For this you need to check the “restrict background data” in your device settings.
Turn off restrict background data: Open device Settings, look for Data Usage. Then tap on WhatsApp and make sure that “restrict background data” is off, if not then do it and now check for notifications.
Solution for iOS user for WhatsApp Notifications
Similar to Android, you can check for the battery saving apps. If you have installed any battery saving app on your device then you can uninstall it and check for the notifications.
If you are an iOS user and you have checked the push notification setting in WhatsApp and notification center enabled then you have no more options left apart from using your iPhone as new phone. Restore the iPhone and you will not lose your data apart from apps.
